~ Richard Titsworth ~
Last Month (June of 2009), Jeff Titsworth contacted
me about the race cars that his dad, Dick Titsworth, built and raced over
the years. Jeff wondered if I'd be interested in putting them up on
Gasser Madness. I believe my response was something along the lines
of "Hell, yes!" The end result of that conversation can be seen on
these pages, starting with a 283 powered 1940 Ford that Dick campaigned
fron 1955 through 1957 and continuing up through around 1969 when
Dick was racing his well-known "Seaport Automotive" A/G Anglia. Dick
subsequently raced a BB/FC which you can see at
Jeff's Photobucket site. (That will open in a new window.) What you will see here is about 200 photos,
scrapbook pages, timing slips, magazine articles, and a number of
NHRA Record Certificates. The comments below are from Jeff. Click on the
thumbnails to go to the individual picture galleries for each car. Thank you
Jeff. Byron (09
July 2009) 1955 -
57'. Powered
by 283 chevy.
B/G 1958 -
'59. Powered
by 1956, 337 cu in. Buick. A/G This
car was run from 59 - 62. It had
two incarnations - hood indicates different configurations. This was the second version of the same car -
repower etc... Once
again, obviously not raced in a gasser class. Added for timeline. Only
dragster, not sure why. Info
says late '62.
Pictures show two different configurations of front cowling, and different
injectors. 1962 - ? I don't
think this car ever ran in a gasser class. I just put it in here because
it fills the timeline. This is all I got on this one. No idea on class
or any think else. I wasn't born until '66. Guess I'll have to
ask... This
would have started in 1965. Most of
this car's time was spent in B/MP. It did
however also race as a gasser. Probably more toward the end. This
car wasn't run as a gasser either - I don't think it had a class - but it
did run... Threw
it in for timeline and - It's kind of an Anglia.. It also
had different engine configurations. It started with a small blower and
the engine was "capped of" inside the car. Other pics you can see the
injector stacks through the windshield. Huh
found a pic of the second motor. You can see the windshield in the
background... This
would have been built in '66. 1967 Building the Anglia This
would have been '67 + -. The
first version of this car. It was
run in gas classes. New
paint, new motor. Still
ran as /G but also /A. Here
are some misc. cars/ pics. The
white corvettes were owned by someone in Canada and driven by my dad - I
was told. They appear to have been run as /A and /G. The red
anglia was owned / driven by John Mihalko. Local Toledo. Later part of
Gottschalk & Mihalko- "Bob schmidt Chevrolet" funny cars.
